Child Support

In the majority of separations with Children, child support is required to be paid according the Child Support Guidelines.  The amount of child support is dependent on a number of factors, including the number of children, where your children are living primarily, and incomes.

In addition, there are a number of other factors which may impact the amount and duration of child support that is owed.  They include:

Any one of these situations could make a significant impact on the child support that is paid.

Special or extraordinary expenses, such as medical expenses, daycare costs, and other exceptional costs in raising children may all have a significant impact on your finances.  It is important that you get the right advice to ensure the financial well-being of yourself and your children.

Spousal Support

Spousal support is generally payable to one spouse who has been financially disadvantaged as a result of the relationship or the end of the relationship, and the other spouse can afford to pay it.  Whether support will be paid, and, if so, how much will be paid, depends entirely on the circumstances of each case.

Spousal support is not payable in every circumstance.  It is crucial to speak to a family law lawyer before making any agreement about spousal support.  We can explain your rights and obligations clearly so that you are empowered to make an informed decision about how to move forward.
